So... how are those new year's resolutions coming along? According to US News Health, 80% of resolutions fail by the second week of February. That is crazy!
How do I stay on top of my goals? I create some big goals for the year then break those down to create goals for each month. Then I break those down further into weekly goals to help me stay on track! This method allows me to make my goals achievable and helps me keep myself accountable. For example: if my goal for the month is to eat healthy, my goal for week 1 might be to avoid all candy, my goal for week 2 might be to eat a healthy breakfast everyday and so on. Use my goal setting guide to write down all of your goals for this month! Tip #1: Hang up your goals somewhere you can see them everyday. Tip #2: Having a hard time staying on track? Find an accountability buddy, someone to help you stay accountable for your goals!

Want to make it vegan/vegetarian?
Skip the turkey and add another can of beans. I like to mix black with kidney beans for variety. Love putting ranch dressing on your salad? Don't want the extra fat and calories? A recipe that helps you keep all the flavor without the fat and calories?! Sign me up! 1/4 cup non-fat plain greek yogurt 1 tsp hidden valley ranch seasoning Mix the two ingredients together + add a splash of milk or water to get your desired consistency. Store in the fridge and use before the yogurt/milk expires. How to enjoy it: Use it on your salad or as a dip for your veggies! Why yogurt? Yogurt is loaded with protein, especially greek yogurt which has more protein than traditional, and helps keep us full longer. Plain nonfat greek yogurt is your best option at the grocery store because it doesn't have any added sugars. It's also full of healthy probiotics which help keep our gut happy! #let'sgetgeeky What's a probiotic? Probiotics are good bacteria that keep your gut healthy. Not all bacteria are harmful! Our stomach needs good bacteria to stay healthy and digest food. Yogurt is a great source of probiotics to add to your diet everyday! Rushing in the morning and don't have time to make breakfast? That's how I usually feel every weekday so I came up with an easy fix! OVERNIGHT OATS. This breakfast recipe is so quick and easy to make you could do it in your sleep.. err ok maybe that's a stretch. Give yourself literally 5 minutes the night before to whip a container of creamy oats to enjoy in the morning! Here's what you need: Oats + Milk + Fruit + Jazz it up! Oats: I like to use instant and I haven't tried any other kind with this method but feel free to experiment. Oats will help keep you full until lunch since they're full of fiber (both soluble and insoluble). Milk: I use 1% with a splash of water but feel free to use soy, almond, etc. Fruit: choose between blueberries, chopped apples, chopped strawberries, blackberries, peaches Jazz it up: I like to keep my oats simple and just add a dash (or more!) of cinnamon for natural sweetness. Feel free to add chia seeds, flax seeds, unsweetened coconut flakes, peanut butter or chocolate chips... the possibilities are endless! Add all ingredients into a mason jar with a lid or any tupperware container. Store overnight in the fridge and grab and go in the AM. SO EASY. SO DELICIOUS. Tip: In the morning, I like to warm up my oats in the microwave for a few minutes but they also taste great cold so it's really just personal preference! Yours truly, Ria |
